The Cabinet of Ministers is preparing for Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov's visit to China, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych announced at a meeting with Vice-Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Zhang Dejiang in Beijing on Friday.

"[Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister] Andriy Kliuyev has begun preparations for Prime Minister Mykola Azarov’s visit to China," he said.

Yanukovych also noted that Ukraine expected a Chinese delegation to visit the country this autumn.

"We will create the conditions for interregional cooperation," he said.

Yanukovych said that cooperation between Ukraine and China would be based on a strong political foundation.

"We agreed that an agreement would be signed between the Communist Party of China and the Regions Party, which will actually deal with our strategic decisions," he said.

Yanukovych noted that at a meeting with Chinese Leader Hu Jintao on Thursday, the sides had agreed that they would sign an agreement on strategic cooperation at any convenient time.

He recalled that it had also been agreed that the status of the Ukrainian-Chinese interstate commission would be raised to the level of a standing committee on cooperation.

The committee will be headed by Ukrainian First Vice-Premier Andriy Kliuyev and Vice-Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Zhang Dejiang, he said.

"The instructions, which we’ll give to the governments of our countries, will be aimed at creating concrete mechanisms for the implementation of our decisions," Yanukovych said.
