Claims that former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Kravchenko ordered the murder of journalist Georgy Gongadze represent an attempt by the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) to excuse itself for its inactivity, the journalist's mother, Lesia Gongadze, has said.
She said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday that neither she nor her lawyer had received any documents to allow them to begin to examine the materials of the criminal case.
"The fact that they [the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine] want to place all of the blame onto a deceased person is nothing unusual. Let God be their judge. What they are doing is an attempt to remove all traces of their inactivity," the mother of the deceased journalist said.
She said that she was not planning to attend court hearings.
"I asked my lawyer not to sign any documents. If she wants to go to court, let her go," she said.
Gongadze also said that in her opinion, the fragments of the skull found in July 2009 had nothing to do with her son.
