Boxers Vitaliy and Volodymyr Klitschko have become "Euro 2012 friends," joining several other Ukrainian personalities with this status.

The boxers received their certificates as "Euro 2012 Friends" at the office of the local organizing committee of Euro 2012 Ukraine in Kyiv on Tuesday.

"It’s a great honor to be a friend of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship. I’m sure we have to do much. Euro 2012 will bring victories to Ukraine. Victories in the economic and sports spheres and in the infrastructure that will exist in Ukraine," Vitaliy Klychko said after the ceremony.

Ukraine’s Vice Premier for Euro 2012 Borys Kolesnikov said:

"The president and the government will do everything possible for Euro 2012 friends not to be ashamed of hosting guests from the whole world in our state."

In his turn, UEFA Euro 2012 Operations Director Martin Kallen said:

"Much has been done over the last four months and we will definitely note this on September 21 during a meeting of the supervisory council."

As reported earlier, President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Serhiy Bubka, President of the Ukrainian Athletic Federation Valeriy Borzov, singer Sviatoslav Vakarchuk and poet and publisher Ivan Malkovych became the first Ukrainian friends of the championship.

A hundred people will become the friends of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship over the year.
