The dead sailor from the Vasily, a Mongolian-flagged ship that sank near Kerch in Ukraine's territorial waters early on Monday, was a citizen of Russia, the press service of the main department of the Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry in Crimea reported.

According to the latest data from the Emergencies Ministry, the vessels’ crew consisted of 13 people – ten citizens of the Russian Federation and three citizens of Ukraine. Seven Russian and two Ukrainian sailors were rescued.

The search for two Russian sailors and one Ukrainian sailor continues.

Earlier reports said that the Mongolian-flagged Vasily, which was carrying about 3,000 tonnes of scrap metal, sank off Cape Kyz-Aul off the Kerch Peninsula, on Oct. 11.

The ship was on its way to Port Poti in Georgia from Mykolaiv, Ukraine.
