You're reading: Tymoshenko urges to stop hunger strike

Leader of the Batkivschyna Party Yulia Tymoshenko has called on her supporters in Kyiv and Lviv to stop a hunger strike.

In her call, Tymoshenko addressed all activists of the party who have been on hunger strike for seven days near the building of the Central Election Commission in Kyiv and demanded the registration of “legitimate electoral lists from the Batkivschyna party at the local elections and the holding of fair democratic elections.”

Tymoshenko said she was indignant that on Lesi Ukrainky Square, near the camp of the hunger strikers, Kyiv City State Administration had launched a farm product fair.

“People came here to protest, but almost on the next day, on the instructions of [Ukrainian President Viktor] Yanukovych, a fair was launched on this square for the sake of nobody,” she said.
