According to the audit, the government of former Prime Minister Tymoshenko misappropriated nearly half a billion dollars. A source in the government familiar with the investigation said the three auditors received a $2 million fee for their work, but the government hopes to return "at least a hundred times that much"that had allegedly been embezzled under Tymsohenko and sent abroad through fake contracts and dubious currency conversion deals.

Two moe audits are expected to take place, costing the taxpayers roughtly the same. They will concentrate on the money from the state reserve, a backup fund set aside for natural disasters and such, and the inspection of state monopolies.
