Ukraine and Canada on October 25 are to sign a youth exchange agreement, Ukrainian ambassador to Canada Ihor Ostash has said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

He said that the agreement would be signed during a visit of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to Ukraine.

"The main focus of the visit is the signing of a youth exchange agreement and talks on a free economic zone," he said.

He also said that the signing of the agreement would allow Ukrainians and Canadians aged from 18 to 35 years to travel, study and work without restrictions in the two countries during one year. He said that certain quantitative quotas would be introduced for a first year of the agreement.

"The agreement could be named a serious step on the way to relaxation of the visa regime between our countries," Ostash said.

Ukraine is actively drawing up other Ukrainian-Canadian documents, and the major part of them could be signed in the near term during next visits. In particular, an agreement on cooperation in the space and customs spheres and criminal case investigation are being drawn up, a new agreement on air transportation to boost the number of Kyiv-Toronto flights is being composed.
