Moscow, Oct. 27 (Interfax/Interfax-Ukraine) – Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, or Rosselkhoznadzor, is waiting for a new list of meat and milk processing companies recommended by the Ukrainian veterinary service for the supply of their products to Russia.

As the Russian service said in a statement, the Ukrainian veterinary service has recently withdrawn its own acts on checks on Ukrainian meat and milk processing companies, as they were at variance with the Russian veterinary and sanitary requirements and standards. The discrepancy was detected during a joint inspection in September 2010.

"Rosselkhoznadzor should be given a new list of Ukrainian suppliers who are interested in exporting to Russia, and provided guarantees from the Ukrainian veterinary service that they meet the Russian veterinary standards and the requirements of the Customs Union. These companies will be subsequently inspected by experts, including ones from Rosselkhoznadzor," reads the statement.

Issues of cooperation between the two countries’ veterinary services were discussed during a recent visit of Rosselkhoznadzor head Sergey Dankvert to Ukraine, where he met with Ukrainian Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk and Chairman of the State Committee for Veterinary Medicine Ivan Bisiuk.

The sides also discussed transit supplies of milk and meat across Russian territory to Kazakhstan by Ukrainian producers that have not been certified by Rosselkhoznadzor, and which had not been included as of July 1, 2100, on the register of companies authorized to export milk and meat to the Customs Union’s territory.

Moreover, the sides touched on the mutual rapprochement between Ukraine and the Customs Union member states. They agreed on the need to hold a meeting for the head of the veterinary services of Ukraine and the Customs Union member states by November 10, 2010, to settle the issues that remain unsettled in CIS and the Customs Union legislation.
