Ukraine could again be placed on the Priority Watch List of countries violating intellectual property rights, which is compiled by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, if the country fails to take urgent measures to fight such violations.

A member of the economic department of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, Alex Ryan, announced this at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

"If the conditions do not improve, Ukraine could again be put on this list, and we really do not want this," he said.

Ukraine was taken off the list of countries seriously violating copyright in 2005, when Ukraine and the United States reached an agreement on the legalization of software used in public agencies.
