Ukraine's GDP from January to October 2010 rose by 4.6% year-over-year, Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov said opening a Wednesday cabinet meeting in Kyiv.

"In October, GDP grew by 5.7%," he said.

Azarov said that the government’s main task, which it is successfully performing, is to maintain macroeconomic and financial stability, and the mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that recently visited Ukraine had noted this fact.

"The country’s economy is recovering," the premier said.

As reported, the State Statistics Committee has not published the pace of the country’s month-on-month GDP since 2009, making public only quarter-on-quarter data.

According to recent data from the committee, in Q3, 2010 Ukraine’s GDP was up by 3.5% year-over-year, which is less than the pace in the second and first quarters of 2010 (6% and 4.9% respectively).

The cabinet forecasts Ukraine’s GDP growth at 3.7% in 2010, following a fall of 15.1% in 2009.
