The mistakes in the first version of the Tax Code have been corrected and the new version of the Tax Code with amendments proposed by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych was adopted in compliance with the Constitution of Ukraine, the Justice Ministry of Ukraine has said.

"The first part [the first version of the Tax Code approved by the parliament] contained some contradictions to the constitution, while today the Tax Code complies with the constitution," Deputy Justice Minister Lidia Horbunova said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday.

She added that the Justice Ministry is responsible only for the draft laws it draws up itself. According to her, Ukrainian Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych participated in a legal study of the first version of the Tax Code and submitted a number of amendments to the version.

"I think that the mistakes have been corrected," the deputy minister said.

Horbunova said that the second version of the Tax Code with the amendments of the president did not undergo a legal study at the ministry, as all aspects contradicting the Constitution of Ukraine were considered.

"There cannot be such [unconstitutional] provisions [in the Tax Code]," she said.
