The official representative of Ukraine will not be able to attend the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony, which is traditionally held in Oslo (Norway), as he is to participate in a regular staff meeting in Kyiv.

In a comment to Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday, the director of the information policy department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Oleh Voloshyn, explained that the award is traditionally presented by the King of Norway, and the ambassadors of the countries accredited in Oslo are invited at this ceremony.

Due to the fact that Ukraine’s Ambassador to Norway Oleksandr Tsvetkov, who has received the invitation, will be at this time at a staff meeting of the Foreign Ministry in Kyiv, Ukraine will not be officially represented at the ceremony, Voloshyn said, adding that according to the protocol, this invitation can not be transferred to anyone else.
