Head of the Committee on public health of Ukraine Tetiana Bakhteeva has called on the international business to invest in the nation’s public health system.

“The construction, reconstruction, re-equipment, modernization of public health clinics in Kyiv and other oblasts of Ukraine are to be made soon, so that they could correspond to the international standards and provide high level of medical services. Investing into Ukraine’s public health sector is becoming very attractive day by day,” Bakhteeva said during the Russia, Ukraine, CIS Healthcare infrastructure investment and finance summit in Moscow on Dec.8.

Bakhteeva said that large-scale financing and investing in hospitals projects are to be made in Ukraine by European Football Championship Euro 2012. If European countries spend some 9 percent from the states’ budgets on public health, in Ukraine’s it’s only 3 or 4 percent, according to the Committee on public health of Ukraine.

“Some 50 percent of Ukrainian state health clinics have crumbled with age. The only way to solve this problem is to call on some non-budget funds into Ukraine, including private partnership,” Bakhteeva said.
