You're reading: Ukraine to take additional steps to sign free trade agreements with EU, CIS, Canada

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has issued a decree ordering the Cabinet of Ministers to take additional measures to sign an association agreement between Ukraine and the European Union and create a deep and comprehensive free trade area.

The government was also ordered to take measures to sign free trade agreements with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Canada and other promising trading partners.

These decisions were taken given a comprehensive analysis of the challenges and threats to Ukraine’s national security in 2011.

A respective decree, No.1119/2010, regarding a National Security and Defense Council decision of November 17, 2010 on the challenges and threats to Ukraine’s national security in 2011 has been posted on the official Web site of the head of state.
