The Eleni P, a ship with a Ukrainian citizen on board, which was seized by pirates on May 12, has been freed and is heading to Oman, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported.

"According to information available to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, the Eleni P, a ship held by Somali pirates, with a Ukrainian citizen on board, has been freed. Accompanied by a Greek Navy vessel participating in the Atalanta operation, the freed ship is heading to Oman," ministry spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov told Interfax-Ukraine on Saturday.

As reported, the Eleni P, a ship with a Ukrainian aboard, was seized in the Gulf of Aden on May 12, 2010.

On December 7, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported that agreement on the amount of a ransom for the release of the ship had been reached. The amount of the ransom has not been disclosed.
