Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych completed his one-day official visit to Latvia, and returned to Kyiv on Wednesday night.

Earlier, the Ukrainian president’s trip to Riga was planned as a two-day state visit – December 15-16, but during the adjustment of its program the status of the visit was changed to official.

During the preparation for the visit, the Ukrainian delegation turned down Latvia’s offer to the Ukrainian president to visit the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia (1940-1991), a source in the Latvian delegation told Interfax-Ukraine.

"The Ukrainian side has rejected a visit of the head of state to the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia," the source told the agency.

At the same time, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko visited the museum.
