The European People's Party (EPP) has condemned the growth of politically motivated pressure by the Ukrainian authorities on the opposition and Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that EPP President Wilfried Martens had made such a statement after the party’s summit in Brussels on Thursday.

"The EPP’s presidency condemns the growth of aggressive, politically motivated pressure by the Ukrainian authorities on the opposition and its leader Yulia Tymoshenko. In particular, the EPP is deeply concerned about criminal charges brought by the Prosecutor General’s Office against Yulia Tymoshenko, including an outrageous ban on her traveling outside Kyiv," he said.
