Ex-interior minister and leader of the People's Self-Defense Party Yuriy Lutsenko, who was detained in Kyiv on Sunday, is currently held in custody at a pretrial detention facility of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU).

"According to preliminary reports, he is at an SBU detention facility," the Our Ukraine-People’s Self-Defense party told Interfax-Ukraine.

Neither the SBU, nor prosecutors were available for comment.

It was reported that the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office has completed the investigation, whereby Lutsenko and his driver Leonid Prystupliuk are accused of misusing public funds.

The ex-minister is being charged under Section 191 part five (conspiracy to misappropriate massive public assets through abuse of office) and Section 365 part three (abuse of office entailing grave consequences) of the Ukrainian Penal Code.
