A fire broke out at a depth of 987 meters at Butivska coal mine, run by Makiyivvuhillia State Enterprise in the town of Makiyivka, Donetsk region, the press service of the Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry reported.

A total of 259 miners were taken to the surface. No casualties have been reported.

Rescue teams are putting out the fire. The mine’s operation has been halted.
