Ukrainian border guards have detained five citizens of Georgia in Chernivtsi region not far from the border with Romania for violating the rules for staying in Ukraine.

The press service of the State Border Service of Ukraine reported on Tuesday that a group of foreigners was detained on Monday night in Hlybotsky district due to the information received from residents of Horbyvtsi village (two kilometers from the border with Romania).

Administrative protocols were drawn up regarding the detained Georgians, who arrived in Ukraine from Belarus via the Hornostaivka checkpoint (Chernihiv region) about two weeks ago.

In addition, Uzhgorod border guards have detained a citizen of Uzbekistan. According to the press service, in September, the man was released from a special detention centre of Ukraine’s Interior Ministry. He was detained following a failed attempt to illegally cross the border into Poland in March of the previous year.
