Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said he hopes that a visa-free regime for travel between the European Union and Ukraine will be established this year.

"I will express my hopes that a visa-free regime for Ukraine from the side of the European Union will become a reality by [the time Ukraine hosts] the Euro 2012 [European Football Championship]. We will do everything in order this happen even in 2011," he said during the seventh Ukrainian lunch organized by Viktor Pinchuk Foundation.

The Ukrainian lunch was dedicated to the upcoming Euro 2012 European Football Championship, which Ukraine and Poland will host.
