Issues related to the elimination of the consequences of Chornobyl Disaster should not be the burden Ukraine and Belarus alone, Poland's President Bronislaw Komorowski has said.

"I believe that the whole of Europe, specifically Eastern Europe, should share the memory of this catastrophe, the consequences of which can be felt to this day," he said at a joint press conference with Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovych in Warsaw on Thursday.

Komorowski said that he had received Yanukovych’s invitation to take part in an international conference on nuclear safety dated to the 25th anniversary of the Chornobyl tragedy in Kyiv in April, 2011.

"If my schedule allows it, as it is very close to Easter holidays, then, obviously, I will attend the event… The issue of the continuing elimination of the consequences of the disaster should not be a problem of Ukraine and Belarus alone," the Polish president said.
