You're reading: Ukrainian parliament to increase fine for forest pollution

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, intends to increase fines for causing damage and pollution of forests.

A total of 344 MPs passed the draft law amending a provision on liability for the pollution of forests of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences.

In particular, according to the draft law, officials will be fined by 50-80 non-taxable minimums of incomes of citizens for the pollution of forests with waste water, chemical substances, oil and petroleum products, industrial and domestic waste that affects trees and causes droughts in forests.

Citizens of Ukraine will be fined by 10-30 non-taxable minimum incomes, and officials will be fined by 30-70 non-taxable minimum incomes for dumping waste in forests.
