You're reading: Daughter of Ukrainian Supreme Court judge suspected of fraud

The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office has launched criminal proceedings against a daughter of Chairman of the Supreme Court Vasyl Onopenko.

The office told Interfax that a criminal case of fraud was opened which entails a person term of five to 12 years and the seizure of property.

"Pressing investigative actions are now being taken," the office added.

Earlier the newspaper Kommersant-Ukraine reported, quoting a resolution on opening the case, that criminal proceedings had been launched against Vasyl Onopenko’s youngest daughter Iryna.

On Feb. 1 a person named Ksenzenko filed a motion with the Prosecutor General’s Office to bring criminal charges of fraud against Iryna Onopenko and her husband Volodymyr Kotliarov. The couple is suspected of borrowing but not returning a sum of $300,000.
