The Municipal Court in Prague on Wednesday issued a ruling eliminating the possibility of extraditing former Ukrainian Economy Minister Bohdan Danylyshyn to Ukraine, Radio Liberty has reported.

Such a court ruling confirmed that the status of political refugee that was granted to Danylyshyn by the Czech Interior Ministry on Jan. 13, 2011 cannot be canceled, Danylyshyn’s lawyer Marina Makhitkova told Radio Liberty.

Danylyshyn, who served as Ukraine’s economy minister in the government led by former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in 2007-2010, was put on the state and international wanted list in August 2010.

On Oct. 19, 2010, he was detained in the Czech Republic at Interpol’s request.

The Czech Republic granted political asylum to Danylyshyn. Ukraine insisted on his extradition.
