Simferopol City Council allocated a first land plot for repatriates to construct private housing during its meeting on Feb. 15

All of the deputies of the council participating in the vote supported this decision. Crimean Premier Vasyl Dzharty called on all MPs to support it.

He noted that the allocation of this land plot was aimed at resolving the issue of the illegal seizure of land around Simferopol and in Simferopol district.

This plot will be allotted to repatriates that illegally seized land in Simferopol and Simferopol district. Dzharty said that this decision of the city council launched the process of resolving the problem of the illegal seizure of land around Simferopol, and stressed that apart from Crimean Tatars, people of various nationalities had also participated in the seizures.

According to the Crimean premier, the authorities of the autonomy will continue resolving the land problems of all people that need land plots for private construction.

Dzharty added that it is planned to create the technical and economic basis for land to be allotted to repatriates, so as to ensure that necessary facilities, including roads, water supply system, drainage system and power supply network, are constructed on this territory.

The necessary funds have been reserved by the Council of Ministers of Crimea, he said.

"I think that in a month and a half or in two months we will be able to launch this project," Dzharty said.

According to him, in general, about 800 hectares of land have been seized around Simferopol. He added that only a small part of this land had been seized by people who actually need it for private housing construction, while most of it had been seized for commercial purposes.
