The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has confirmed the detention of two Ukrainian citizens by the Young Patriots group in Cote d'Ivoire.

The Ukrainians were detained on February 28, 2011, they are working in Ivory Coast under a contract with the Ukrainian company, the Foreign Ministry’s spokesman, Oleksandr Dykusarov, told Interfax-Ukraine.

According to a report of the Ukrainian Embassy in Guinea, Ukrainian citizens have been released.

"According to the embassy, Ukrainians were detained by the local group Young Patriots, and after the negotiations of representatives of the UN mission in Ivory Coast with the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of this country were released from custody and returned to their work," Dykusarov said.

Earlier, some media reported that two Ukrainians, allegedly members of the UN mission, were kidnapped in Ivory Coast.
