No Ukrainians were killed or injured in Friday's massive earthquake in Japan, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov has said.

"According to the Ukrainian Embassy in Japan, there are no Ukrainian citizens among those killed and injured due to the earthquake," reads a statement released by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s press service on Friday.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Japan and the Consular Service Department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry are overseeing the situation.

As reported, on March 11, Japan was struck by an 8.9-magnitude earthquake 130 km off the northeastern coast of the Japanese island of Honshu, which caused a powerful tsunami.

According to the latest reports, the earthquake in Japan killed at least 60 people. The Japanese government has stated that the damage from the earthquake still remains unknown, but that "it will be huge."
