You're reading: Ukraine’s government approves sending humanitarian aid to Japan

The Ukrainian government has passed a decision to provide humanitarian aid to Japan.

"Pursuant to the Ukrainian president’s decree, an extraordinary meeting of the government of Ukraine has been held today (on Friday), where a decision on the procedure of providing assistance [to Japan] has been taken," Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said on Inter TV channel on Friday evening.

The premier noted that the Foreign Ministry maintains constant contact with the authorities of this country and is prepared to provide the assistance, including to the citizens of Ukraine.

At the same time, Azarov expressed condolences to the people of Japan in connection with the recent earthquake and tsunami which resulted in numerous casualties.
