Ukraine is hoping that Russia will use the nation's gas pipeline network more, arguing that it is cheaper than planned gas pipelines such as North Stream, South Stream and Nabucco.

Kostis Geropoulos writes:Paolo Scaroni, the Chief Executive at Italian energy giant ENI, a key partner of Russian gas monopoly Gazprom, said the planned EU-backed Nabucco and Russia’s South Stream gas pipelines should be linked. “If only all partners decided to link the two, we would reduce operating costs and increase efficiency,” he was quoted by the press as telling delegates at the CERAWeek energy conference in Houston.
