Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has congratulated Michel Platini on his re-election as UEFA president, the presidential press service has reported.

"I hope for further close cooperation [with you], and I’m sure that through our joint efforts the Euro 2012 [European Football Championship] in our country will be held at a high organizational level," reads a letter of congratulation from the head of state.

As reported, UEFA President Michel Platini has been re-elected for a second four-year term. Platini, who was the only candidate, was re-elected by delegates from UEFA’s 53 member national associations at the XXXV Ordinary UEFA Congress in Paris.

The Frenchman was first elected UEFA president at the XXXI Ordinary UEFA Congress in Dusseldorf in January 2007.
