Leader of the Batkivschyna Party and former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is to visit Brussels on March 23-25 to attend a summit of the European People's Party.

The Batkivschyna Party’s press service reported on Wednesday that during her visit Tymoshenko would hold a range of meetings with EU leaders.

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and others will attend the summit .

The party’s press service reported that the European People’s Party is the largest and most influential political force on the European continent. It includes 73 party members from 39 countries, 15 EU and six non-EU heads of states, and 13 members of the European Commission. It is also the largest grouping in the European Parliament.

As reported, Tymoshenko is charged with the misuse of funds received by Ukraine under the Kyoto Protocol, and abuse of office while purchasing Opel Combo vehicles against government guarantees.

Earlier, Tymoshenko had been banned from travelling outside Kyiv. But then the Prosecutor General’s Office allowed gave permission to Tymoshenko to travel to Brussels, as investigative actions have been completed.
