You're reading: Yanukovych meets with Singaporean president

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has met with President of Singapore Sellapan Ramanathan, the press service of the Ukrainian president has reported.

The official welcoming ceremony took place opposite the building of the Istana, the official residence of the Singaporean president.

The main topics of the meeting between the two presidents were the experience of reforms being conducted by Singapore and mutual investment.

Yanukovych said that Ukraine "is very interested in the experience of reforms being conducted by Singapore and the successful path that they have already passed."

He also said that Ukraine had returned to pragmatic policy and added that Ukraine was seeking to establish normal and mutually beneficial relations with all countries.

Yanukovych also noted that Ukraine wanted to attract investments from Singapore.

"We have an enormous potential for this," he said.

Ramanathan, in turn, expressed hope that the visit by the Ukrainian official delegation "will start a new period of the development of relations between Ukraine and Singapore."

He also wished Yanukovych success in implementing reforms.

Yanukovych, in turn, invited the Singaporean president to visit Ukraine.
