You're reading: Presidents of Ukraine, Singapore agree on cooperation

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and President of Singapore Sellapan Ramanathan have said they will soon discuss the possibility of establishing a Ukraine-Singapore Business Council.

The parties also expressed their readiness to resume talks on a free trade agreement between Ukraine and Singapore, the press service of the Ukrainian president reported on Monday.

The presidents welcomed the participants of the Ukrainian-Singapore Business Forum, organized by the Singapore Business Federation jointly with the Chamber of Commerce of Ukraine, and praised the results of the first Ukrainian-Singapore summit, stressing their readiness to further strengthen bilateral relations.

During the meeting, Yanukovych and Ramanathan expressed interest in the further development of cooperation in education, research, science and technology.

They stressed their mutual interest in expanding cooperation in information and communication technologies, and agreed to cooperate in the development of infrastructure, in particular that of ports, industrial parks, as well as power industry infrastructure.

The president of Ukraine thanked his counterpart for his hospitality and invited the leadership of Singapore to visit Ukraine.
