The opening of the Olympiysky National Sports Complex could take place in the middle or at the end of October 2011 because of delays in constructing the stadium's roof, Ukrainian Vice Premier and Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov has said.

"… You know we have two dates for opening [the Olympiysky stadium] – the end of August or the middle or end of October. This is linked to only one factor – a western German company, which is the subcontractor on roofing. Because of the incomplete delivery of components, we are two months behind [schedule on] roofing. Nevertheless, currently the lifting of cable-supported structures has started, [and] it will be completed on April 16-17…" he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Kolesnikov also said that the opening of a stadium in Lviv could take place at the end of October of the current year.

"The end of October of the current year [is the time of the opening of] the Lviv stadium," he said.
