Leader of the Ukrainian Communist Party (CPU) Petro Symonenko has criticized the current government's foreign policy course and called for Ukraine's accession to the Customs Union and Common Economic Space (CES).

"We are continuing the old, so-called multivector policy. There is no clarity, no understanding," Symonenko told a press conference on Thursday.

"One should not expect any concessions on the part of the EU (European Union). This is a very predatory world of global relations, and naturally, the economic problems that are haunting Europe today, require them to deal primarily with social tensions in their area," the Communist leader said.

"Meanwhile, we have not decided where we stand on foreign policy: we are trying to demand something from the Customs Union without being its member, without formulating our position for these founding principles to become profitable for Ukraine," he said.

The CPU is calling for Ukraine’s accession to the Customs Union, Symonenko said.

"Without membership in organizations such as the Customs Union and the CES, today it is impossible for Ukraine to defend its interests on foreign markets," he said.
