Iryna Lutsenko, the wife of former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko, went to hospital on Thursday to visit her husband, but the convoy commander is not allowing her to see him, arguing that the permission by the investigator of the Prosecutor General's Office to visit the ex-minister was not approved by his doctor.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said on Thursday that Iryna Lutsenko had arrived at hospital to visit Yuriy Lutsenko, who is in custody in the department of acute poisoning.

On Wednesday, she obtained the permission from the Prosecutor General’s Office to visit her husband.

However, the convoy commander did not let her in, saying that the document issued by the Prosecutor General’s Office should be signed by the doctor.

She wanted to give her husband a TV set and books, which he asked the day before.

The ex-minister’s brother, Serhiy Lutsenko, referring to the chief doctor, told reporters that the doctor’s signature should not be put on the document allowing Iryna Lutsenko to visit her husband on Thursday.
