The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has refuted any connection between the expulsion of Czech diplomats from Ukraine and Prague's recent granting political asylum to Ukraine's ex-Minister of Economy Bohdan Danylyshyn.

Director of the information policy department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Oleh Voloshyn told Interfax-Ukraine on Friday that that there is a long-standing practice whereby in the event of illegal activities against Ukraine’s national interest its authorities would do everything possible put an end to such actions.

"Since diplomats have immunity from prosecution, they were not brought to justice on the territory of Ukraine, but were expelled," Voloshyn stressed.

The Ukrainian diplomat added that Kyiv will continue pursuing its security interests.

"As for Danylyshyn, he has never been a factor molding our stand towards the official Prague," he said.
