Ukraine's ex-president Viktor Yuschenko has given evidence in the criminal case against former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko involving gas contracts between Ukraine and Russia, Ukrainian Deputy Prosecutor General Renat Kuzmin said.

"Yuschenko has been questioned in connection with the gas contracts case. His evidence has been filed with the case materials," Kuzmin told the parliament on Wednesday responding to a question as to whether the statements made by Yuschenko on live television about the gas contracts signed in 2009 will be filed with the case materials.

Kuzmin reiterated that a political evaluation of the actions taken by Tymoshenko when the contracts were signed can only be given by the parliament.
