Ambassador of France to Ukraine Jacques Faure has said that Europe suspects the "gas case" against former Ukrainian Premier and Leader of the Batkivschyna Party Yulia Tymoshenko has political grounds.
"I didn’t want to comment on this trial, but I would like to say that France thinks that, unfortunately, this court process against Yulia Tymoshenko is very far from the law, and is very close to politics," the diplomat said during a panel discussion, organized by the Ukrainian Legal Association, according to the press service of the Batkivschyna Party.
The press service said that the ambassador noted that "gradually we’ve started thinking – where are the European values often mentioned by the Ukrainian authorities, especially in discussions between the EU and Ukraine?"
