Former Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Tetiana Korniakova, who is testifying in the gas case against former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko, has said that instructions signed by Tymoshenko during talks between Naftogaz and Gazprom in 2009 cannot be considered as governmental instructions.

As reported, Korniakova said that the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) investigated the lawfulness of Tymoshenko’s instruction on the talks on the orders of Ukrainian Vice Premier and Economic Development and Trade Minister Andriy Kliuyev and Head of the Presidential Administration Serhiy Liovochkin, who forwarded to the PGO a respective request by Regions Party MP Volodymyr Oliynyk.

According to Korniakova, the Justice Ministry headed by Mykola Onischuk came to the conclusion on the results of the investigation that these instructions could not be considered as the government’s instructions. She added that later the Justice Ministry headed by the incumbent justice minister, Oleksandr Lavrynovych, came to the same conclusion.

Korniakova also said that she does not know the final results of the investigation, as she had resigned from the PGO by the time they appeared.
