You're reading: Prosecutors support request for ordering Tymoshenko’s medical examination

The state prosecutor has urged the court to allow doctors to examine Ukraine's ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

"We request that Health Ministry specialists examine Tymoshenko," the state prosecutor told the Pechersky Court in Kyiv, which is hearing the gas case against Tymoshenko.

Tymoshenko’s party associates claimed earlier that her condition has deteriorated sharply.

Tymoshenko’s defense lawyers urged Judge Rodion Kireev to order her immediate medical examination, but the request was disregarded.

Tymoshenko herself had asked the court to allow her medical examination, but the judge claimed she had been offered medical attention at the detention center, which she rejected.

Tymoshenko said she did not trust prison doctors.
