The Communist Party of Ukraine (KPU) will not unite with the Regions Party at the upcoming parliamentary elections, according to experts.

"In any case, the communists cannot unite with the Regions Party," Director of the Situations Modeling Agency Vitaliy Bala said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.

He said that already the Communist Party had already been criticising the actions of "capitalists and oligarchs."

"In fact, they [the communists] have already begun to conduct their election campaign, and any mistakes made by the current government in socio-economic issues will be used by the Communist Party of Ukraine," the expert said.

"They [the communists] have every chance of winning seats in parliament," Bala said.

President of the Open Policy Analytical Center Ihor Zhdanov supported the view of his colleague.

"There will be no union of the Communist Party of Ukraine and the Regions Party," he said.

"It’s an interesting political and business project that could exist in future. [But] there’s no sense in [the communists] uniting with the Regions Party [now]," Zhdanov said.

"This is because the communists now have more chance of winning seats in parliament than not winning any," the expert said.
