You're reading: Communists demand Tigipko’s dismissal

The Ukrainian Communist Party's faction in parliament has again demanded that the government dismiss Deputy Prime Minister and Social Policy Minister Sergiy Tigipko.

"We once again ask the government to urgently dismiss Sergiy Tigipko from his post and thus stop the antisocial reforms that are now being conducted on the orders of the International Monetary Fund," party leader Petro Symonenko said in parliament on Tuesday.

"The communists have never voted, and will never vote, for any antisocial reform," he said.

Symonenko noted that the government proposed conducting reform in the housing and utilities sector, according to which it will be possible to deprive any person of house.

He also said that the government also proposed conducting health care reform, which, in his opinion, does not meet the needs of Ukrainians.

"We will never vote for such reforms, and we’re urging you to support us in this," Symonenko said.
