Ukraine's national joint-stock company, Naftogaz Ukrainy, is not going to withdraw the civil lawsuit it filed against ex-prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yury Boiko said.

"We cannot withdraw this civil lawsuit," the minister told Verkhovna Rada on Friday.

The gas contracts signed under Tymoshenko’s premiership led to great losses at Ukrtransgaz, because a month before the contract was signed, the price Ukrtransgaz bought fuel gas at was $180, and a month afterwards it became $360, Boiko said.

"I am certain you will be able to calculate the losses yourselves," the minister told a deputy, who asked him whether Naftogaz’ civil suit against Tymoshenko would be withdrawn.

On October 11, Kyiv’s Pechersk District Court is expected to issue a verdict to Ukrainian ex-prime minister and Batkivschyna Party leader Tymoshenko, charged with abuse of authority when signing natural gas contracts with Russia in 2009.
