An appeal against the sentence Kyiv Pechersky District Court's passed on the former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is expected to be filed on Tuesday, one of Tymoshenko's senior party colleagues has said.

"This morning the lawyers went into the detention center, as they didn’t have an opportunity to talk during the weekend. I expect that they will come out of Lukyanivka jail after 1800, and then we’ll get the information," the deputy leader of the Batkivschyna Party, Oleksandr Turchynov, said at a press briefing on Monday, asked when Tymoshenko’s lawyers will appeal against the ruling of Pechersky court.

According to him, Tymoshenko wants to oversee the drawing up of the final version of the appeal herself, she personally had to sign the complaint and submit it to the court through the administration of the prison.

"As for the main appeal [signed by Yulia Tymoshenko], it should already be at the administration of the detention center," he added.

Under the procedure, the prison’s administration is to file the complaint at court.

"Another issue is to ensure that it [the complaint] is not lost … There will be a copy, and the lawyers will send this similar complaint to court," Turchynov said.
