You're reading: Focus magazine: Tymoshenko tops Ukraine’s most influential rating

Former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko has taken the top position in "100 most influential women of Ukraine" rating by the Focus magazine.

A presentation of the magazine issue with the rating was held in Kyiv on Thursday.

The criminal process against Tymoshenko, which were intended to destroy her as politician, has had the opposite effect and Tymoshenko has now taken the 1st place in the magazine’s rating five years running, the magazine said.

Almost a quarter of the rating list of the 100 most influential women of Ukraine are representatives of the authorities and ruling party, and even proximity to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in many respects defines their position in the rating. MP from the Regions Party faction Tetiana Bakhteyeva, the president’s representative in the Constitutional Court Olena Lukash and first Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Iryna Akimova intensified their influence this year.

In particular, Iryna Akimova holds the second place in the list, daughter of the third President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma (1995-2005), Olena Franchuk, –3 rd place, Olena Lukash – 4th place, Tetiana Bakhteyeva – 5th place, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Raisa Bohatyriova – 6th place, MP from Regions Party faction Yulia Liovochkyna – 7th place, Presidential Adviser Hanna Herman – 8th place, and finally, the owner and chief editor of the Ukrainian Pravda newspaper Olena Prytula is in the 9th place. Public figure and wife of Deputy Premier of Ukraine Sergiy Tigipko, Viktoria Tigipko, rounds off the list of the ten most influential Ukrainian women.
