The Verkhovna Rada's human rights commissioner, Nina Karpachova, has said that the condition of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who is held in Lukyanivka jail in Kyiv, it is extremely grave.

She told Channel 5 on Monday that on Sunday evening, without any warning, she came to the jail to visit the former prime minister.

"During my visit to the jail without any warning, I also visited Yulia Tymoshenko and two more women in a prison cell. Tymoshenko’s condition was extremely grave, and she could not get out of bed when talking to me. She needs to be examined and treated outside the detention center. I also think that it is absolutely impossible to conduct investigative actions in a prison cell, and this is the only case over the period of Ukraine’s independence," Karpachova said.
