You're reading: Larry King: Azarov could have been successful US politician

Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov is a straightforward and honest person, and would have been a successful U.S. politician, famous TV host Larry King has said.

"He’s a straightforward and honest person with a deep knowledge of world affairs, especially in the field of economics. It seemed to me that he was very frank in expressing his opinion about [Russian Prime Minister Vladimir] Putin, the U.S. elections, and [former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia] Tymoshenko," he told journalists in Kyiv on Monday after an interview with the Ukrainian prime minister.

"After the interview, I told my wife that he [Azarov] would have been a successful U.S. politician. As for who he reminded me, he’s a bit like Jimmy Carter. He looks good, and it’s easy to meet with him," he said, when asked with whom of the world’s politicians he would compare Azarov.

King said he liked Azarov’s statement that he was not interested in who wins the U.S. presidential election in 2012 until the winner starts addressing the economic challenges facing the country.

King said that the Ukrainian prime minister reminded him of 39th U.S. President Jimmy Carter.

King also believes that Azarov likes Ukraine’s former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
