You're reading: Yanukovych vetoes law on security activities

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has vetoed a law on security activities, the press service of the head of state reported on Wednesday.

The decision was motivated by the fact that the law does not contain any grounds for the termination of the effect of licenses for security activities.

In addition, according to the head of state, the law does not help determine what actions could serve as grounds for the termination of the effect of licenses for security activities, and what shortcomings would be the basis for making decisions about their elimination.

Yanukovych also proposed bringing the law into conformity with the law on the state registration of legal entities and entrepreneurs.

The Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on security activities on Nov. 17, 2011.

Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych will announce the president’s proposals during the repeated consideration of the law at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada.
